It has an easy to find, strategic location in the south-west part of the Alblasserwaard polders, nearby Dordrecht, Rotterdam and Gorinchem. Ideal for exploring the West and central part of the Netherlands.

The canal 'Schie' was made to stimulate the Delft beers and clothing export trade. Around the locks near the river Maas, a little village arised (Delfshaven).
